Chicago Bears vs. New Orleans Saints,Who Will Cover The Spread , NFL 2017 WEEk 8 PICK

NFL football pick
Line: New Orleans -8

Total: 48

The red-hot New Orleans Saints will clash with the Chicago Bears in an NFC tilt Sunday afternoon from the Mercedes Benz Superdome. The Bears recorded a solid 17-3 home win over the Panthers last week, and the Saints notched a 26-17 road win over the Packers in their latest action. This marks the first meeting between these teams since the 2014 season in a contest the Saints won by a 31-15 score.
The Chicago Bears played clutch defense in their surprising 17-3 home win over the Panthers last week. The Bears offense was only on the field for 21 minutes and collected only five first downs. Mitchell Trubisky only threw for 107 yards on four completed passes. The rookie quarterback is showing signs of a bright future and has tallied 348 passing yards with two touchdowns against one interception in three games. Jordan Howard notched 65 rushing yards on 21 carries. The 22-year old running back is having a terrific season, accumulating 560 rushing yards and is averaging four yards per carry. Tarik Cohen made one catch for 70 yards and is now second in team receiving with 228 receiving yards. The Bears offense was non-existent in the win, as they failed to score an offensive touchdown. Chicago’s running game has been carrying their offense, however, they own the 31st ranked pass defense in the NFL.

The Bears defense was the catalyst in the win over the Panthers, scoring on a fumble return and a pick-six. They held Cam Newton and the Panthers to an 0 for 2 mark in the red zone, and forced three turnovers. Chicago’s pass defense has been outstanding, posting the ninth-ranked pass defense in the NFL. They have now won two straight but are still last in the NFC North.

The New Orleans Saints took advantage of a Packers team without Aaron Rodgers in their 26-17 road win over Green Bay last week. Drew Brees tossed two interceptions, however, he did accumulate 338 passing yards with one touchdown. Overall, the 38-year old quarterback is having a solid season, collecting 1652 passing yards with an 11:4 TD to INT ratio. He has tossed four picks in his last two games after going the first four games without throwing an interception. The Saints rushed for 161 yards with Mark Ingram coming through another big game, rushing for 105 yards after recording 114 yards against the Lions in week six. The 27-year old running back has now registered 389 rushing yards on the season. Ted Ginn Jr. had his best game of the season, bringing in 141 receiving yards on seven catches. The 32-year old wide receiver has now tallied 353 receiving yards on the year. The Saints passing game is looking very strong, and they are now receiving strong production from their running game.

The Saints defense was solid in the win over the Packers, conceding only 260 total yards and held Brett Hundley to 87 passing yards. Their defense is showing signs of improvement which is a great sign going forward. New Orleans has now won four straight to catapult them into first place in the NFC South.
Listed below is a summary of the games results in recent Head-to-Head matchups.
I am going with the Saints in this contest. The Saints passing game is tough to handle and I expect Brees to have a big game on his home field. The Bears are allowing an average of 29.3 points in their three road games this season, and the Saints feature the third ranked passing game, averaging 269 yards per game. Furthermore, the Saints defense is improved, and should be able to contain the Bears offense. The Bears only managed five first downs last week and have not generated any offense in the air, and I don’t think the Bears will be able to score enough points with only their running game. The Saints have won four straight and I expect a big win in this one.
Pick: New Orleans Saints*
